Kayla's goat

Recently my granddaughter Kayla, purchased a milk goat for reasons only she can tell you. At 15 years old, I think it shows great responsibility to get up early every morning to milk and then milk again every night. A job I would not want!! Life on the farm can be full of pleasures that people in the city will never experience. Taking care of God's creatures in return takes care of us. I must say, I was a little skeptic of tasting the milk, but it truly tastes like cows milk to me, and from research I've done, it's actually better for you. The first step Kayla has to do is get "Sugar" on her stand to get ready to milk!

We recently celebrated my mother's 89th birthday. If I had to choose one word to describe my mother, it would be LOVE. She loves everybody she meets. In all of my 57 years, I have never seen my mom in a bad mood. I have seen her mad plenty of times, but never in a bad mood. As you can tell by the pictures that follow, there are a lot of people not related to my mother, who also love her very much. Happy Birthday Mom!!

Man's Best Friend

We got about 8 in. of snow this week. Since I'm not fan of cold weather or being out in it, I'm so grateful that Alan has his Great Danes, Thor and Xena. They love running with Alan and playing in the snow. I took these pictures from inside the house. That's how big of a weenie I am!!
The older Xena gets, the more she looks like a bear!!!
Thor is thinking, "I've been good long enough. Give me that treat!!!"

Christmas with Mayfields/Meadows bunch 2009

Another year has come and in a few days be gone forever. When I was younger, I would always complain wishing I was older so I could do more things. My momma would say to me, "Sis, one day the days will just fly by and you will wish they would slow down." Oh how I wish they would slow down! I now know exactly what she was talking about. 2009 seems to have gone by so fast. I have so much to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to a great 2010. Here are a few pictures of the holidays with some of the family. Enjoy!!
